Our Office Manager, Carole Doyle, and her friend Kaye Flack are currently spending most of their evenings and weekends walking the streets of Coleshill. The reason? On 28th May they will walk 65 miles from London to Brighton in under 24 hours for Walk the Walk.
Walk the Walk is a charity supporting breast cancer sufferers and research while encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Last year, Walk the Walk raised over £6.3 million to help alleviate the pain of this terrible illness.
Carole and Kaye are currently spending four days a week training for their great challenge in May and from February this will be raised to six days. The pair like to push themselves, not opting to do the challenge over two days, as Carole stated: ‘if it doesn’t hurt then what’s the point? Cancer hurts more.’ They plan to begin their walk at 9am and finish it before 7am the next morning, singing songs from the musicals along the way.
Carole is no stranger to these kinds of challenges having done the London marathon and the Great North Run in 2007, activities for Help the Heroes a year later, the Birmingham Half Marathon in 2009, The Walk for Life in 2010 and the Moon Walk in both 2013 and 2014. Carole has braved these challenges in memory of people she has lost and has raised money and awareness for some brilliant causes along the way. Walk the Walk will be her seventh medal.
So if you see Carole and Kaye when you’re out and about in Coleshill, don’t be shy! Say hello! They’re always on the look out for interesting routes so if you can think of any do let them know.
If you would like to support Carole and Kaye with their challenge and donate to a fantastic charity then you can find their donation page here.
